The luxurious PhilDutch - Amsterdam Houseboat (or Woonboot in Dutch) - Amsterdam Bed & Breakfast takes its name from the motto of the Dutch province of Zeeland, ‘Lurtor Et Emergo’ meaning ‘I struggle and arise’ and is located at the famous Singelgracht (gracht is Dutch for ‘canal’), one of the major canal rings within the city of Amsterdam.
The houseboat is conveniently located within walking distance from Museumplein(pleinisDutch for ‘square’) where the world famous museums Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum, along with the world's most visited and famous concert hall Concertgebouw are located.
Across the bridge only two minutes away (by foot) from the houseboat, visit the Heineken Brouwerij to learn how the world famous Heineken beer is made; or hop unto a canal bus and take an Amsterdam Canal Boat Cruise, highly recommend for the first time visitors to experience and see the magnificent old charm of the canals, canal houses and the city.
Further along, just ten minutes away (by foot), you'll find the most exclusive shopping street, PC Hoofstraat, where you can find Gucci, Prada, and Louis Vuitton stores, to name a few. Vondelpark is located at the end of this street, considered the biggest park in Amsterdam.
At Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein (on opposite ends), you'll find local bars, discotheques, and various restaurants including coffee shops and cafés that cater to diverse interests.
